When he's not drawing (and even when he should be), your favorite Wonderland artist is wasting his time checking out what's new in the world of entertainment. Here's what he's been reading recently...
Nov 20, 2008 Get ready for the most awesomest thing to hit the internet in a long time! "Life" magazine, in conjunction with Google, has posted their entire photo archive, which goes all the way back to the 1860s, on line! Working similar to Google's current image selection page, the Life images are offerred up via a request box. Just tell it what or who you want to see a photo of. If "Life" ever took a photo of it, you'll see it! Check it out HERE!
Nov 19, 2008 On the new Wall-E 3-Disc DVD set is the documentary The Pixar Story, telling the very interesting story of the studio from it's dream of a beginning to the saving of Disney Studios by Steve Jobs and John Lasseter. Jerry Beck, noted animation historian, has written a piece on Cartoon Brew asking the simple question: With Pixar in charge of Disney Animation, what will be the difference in the two studios?Very interesting read for those who pay attention to such things!
Nov 18, 2008 Arguably, the number one theatrical debate right now (immediately right after whether or not Quantum of Solace is actually any good) amongst the comic book community, centers on what Zach Snyder is doing to Watchmen. When Snyder took the directorial reigns and proclaimed loudly that it was his number one mission to be truthful to the source material, because he was going to have to answer to so many fans of the book if he didn't, many a fanboy believed that he would ultimately fulfill that statement as we responded with girlish glee when we saw images from the production leaked on to the net and saw the first teaser trailer when it was released with The Dark Knight. Now, there's news that Snyder intends to change the ending that the original story laid out by changing the villain's method of destruction. Gone is the giant squid! Originally, it was believed that Snyder was just testing out possible endings and that it might ultimately return when he realized the original was the best idea. But that doesn't seem to be happening. Ain't It Cool News has posted a report that 30 minutes of the film was screened in the UK with Snyder in attendance for questions. Apparently, the squid is being replace by "a being from the 5th dimension!" I guess some sort of Fantastic Four style Galactus that visually looks like a giant twister is better for Watchmen than the book's original idea of a New York sized squid! It's weird that Snyder has gotten everything that he wanted, such as being allowed to maintain the complete visual look of the book and being allowed to stretch the film's length to over three hours, but for some reason he's felt pressure to change the ending? According to the article, he's changing it due to a matter of not having enough film time. So, because he didn't maybe ask for an additional ten minutes, he can't tell the story the exact way it was presented in the book? I'm guessing that Alan Moore is laughing at Snyder right now! Well, check out the article and see what you think. I'm just flustered!
