Well, he did it! The Dark Knight has broken the record set by Spiderman 3's $151.1 million set last summer by an additional $4.2 million.

It was reported that Hollywood also set an overall three-day weekend record of $253 million.

According to Warner Bros., The Dark Knight should shoot past $200 million by the end of the week, which should more than take care of it's budget of $185 million.

But reports do indicate that, due to rising ticket prices over the past year, Spiderman 3 may have sold slightly more tickets than The Dark Knight.

Other opening showings:

Mama Mia! brought in a respectable $27.6 million bringing it in at number two, but Space Chimps was only able to bring in $7.3 million placing it in seventh place for it's opening weekend. That just about matched Meet Dave's dismal appearace last week.

Speaking of which, Eddie's film was only able to bring in another pitiful $1.6 million, dropping it to eleventh place it's second week out. Double ouch!!
